hand-blocks. Hand-block is an old art form and a Jaipur

Jaipur’s most iconic structures. . It is an amazing sight of a sprawling red structure.. This was built in 1799 by the poet king Sawai Pratap Singh. The monument showcases an excellent blend of Hindu Rajput architecture with that of Islamic Mughal. The fluted pillars and floral design represent Hindu architectural traditions.

This 150-year-old store is now being run by the sixth generation of the same family. The store has a breath-taking range of sarees, fabrics and Rajputi poshak - a traditional dress worn by the women of the Rajput community. The fabric is mostly bandhej, which is a form of the famous tie-and-dye technique.

Johari Bazaar, as I mentioned earlier, is a locality for jewellers. The shops here deal with jewellery made out of gold, silver, diamond and other precious and semi-precious stones. Some of the jewellers are known for their specific workmanship. One such traditional method of gemstone carving is Kundan, dating back to the Mughal period.
