Meet your guide and small group at the main entrance to the Vatican Museums.
Enter the Vatican Museums a whole hour before the general public at 8am and visit the main galleries, including the Room of the Candelabra, Hall of Tapestries, and the Gallery of Maps. By the time you get to the Sistine Chapel, it will still be almost empty. Since the Sistine Chapel is a place of worship, you are prohibited to speak inside. Before starting, you will be provided a hand-out, a map of the chapel so you have a reference as your guide explains it to you. You can then use the map when you are inside the chapel. You'll have at least 15-20 minutes to admire Michelangelo's masterpieces and really get a feel for where you are. Your expert guide will do their best to bring to life one of the most beautiful rooms you'll ever walk into.
Walk out a side door of the Sistine Chapel and head straight to St. Peter's Basilica, bypassing the security lines. Here, you will see some highlights with your guide such as the Baldacchino, La Pieta, the Statue of St. Peter and other masterpieces. St. Peter's Basilica took approximately 120 years to build, spanning 20 popes and almost every famous Renaissance architect that you can think of, including Bramante, Raphael, and Michelangelo.
Your guide will walk you underneath the floor of St. Peter's Basilica where you will be able to visit the Tombs of hundreds of Popes throughout the history. Your tour will then end in front of St. Peter's Basilica.
