This Culinary Tour provides a unique glimpse into the food culture of Northern Maharashtra and also the upcoming wine culture of India. This cooking vacation is your weekend getaway, just 3 hours from Mumbai, where you get to gorge on lip-smacking local food, sip on fine wines, and explore unlikely yet delightful pairings of both. You also get to visit the first grape plantation in Nashik (since 1925) and chat with the jolly farmer! In the same farm, we set up cooking stations where you can learn the secrets of Khandeshi cuisine in a fun-filled cooking activity, under the guidance of our experienced home cooks. The food and cooking lessons in this tour are supervised by Ms. Ashalata Patil, who is a leading authority on Khandeshi cuisine.
Day 1: Start your journey on a scenic route and find some amazing spots where you can stop by and soak in the beauty of nature. Once you reach the venue, you will be treated to a variety of authentic local dishes, all home cooked, and paired with wines! The hosts will talk you through the lunch, explaining the food, the wine and the food and wine pairing. This is where most of the guests slip into food coma. Grab a tissue before you start drooling!
Day 2: On the second day, you are taken to a farm on the outskirts of Nashik, which happens to be the first ever vineyard in Nashik. The farmer is super friendly and shows you around his farm, explaining the nitty-gritties of farming. Now comes the part where you don the chef’s apron and start cooking! You can choose a dish of your liking, and the hosts shall arrange for you to cook it on the farm under the guidance of the locals! Open-air cooking in a vineyard – how often do you get to do that? According to the guests so far, this is the most enjoyable part of the tour!
